Applications Open for New TYC Working Group Leads

Following up from the work of this winter's TYC Innovate, the Toronto Youth Cabinet has created four new Working Groups that align with priorities outlined by youth members:

  • Affordable Housing
  • Policing
  • Youth Employment
  • Identify N Impact (Toronto Youth Cabinet's annual awards event recognizing outstanding youth from across the City)

These four new Working Groups will be in addition to other new and existing Working Groups: Transit, Schools Boards, Budget, and Summit. TYC Working Groups focus on a specific issue area and work to address it through a municipal lens.

TYC is currently looking for one (1) Lead for each new Working Group.

Each Working Group Lead will work with the Executive Team to create and implement project plans for the Working Group. Leads will be responsible for organizing meetings, managing teams, and ensuring the projects stay on target. Leads should be comfortable working both independently and with groups of youth. This is a volunteer position for youth between the ages of 13 and 24. Ideal candidates would be able to give up to 3 to 4 hours per week to the role, including meetings, and should be able to attend monthly Cabinet meetings (second Thursday evening of the month). Meetings typically take place at City Hall and TTC tokens are provided.

Positions will start in June 2016 and run until April 2017 (renewable), with the exception of the Identify N Impact Lead position, which will run until January 2017.
