The TYC Civic Toolbox will be an online tool for young Torontonians to learn all about municipal government and issues and how they can have their voices heard and make an impact! Contents will include: a facilitated workshop that anyone can use to share knowledge on how the city runs, guides for having your voice heard and making an impact, and tips for getting involved.
We are currently looking for a young person to spearhead the development of this new Toolbox, a Resource Development Associate. This will involve research on how the municipal government works, developing a workshop and facilitation guide (including testing the materials with a group of young people), discovering best-practices in local engagement from experienced groups & community leaders, and presenting findings in a youth-friendly and visually appealing format that is consistent with current TYC branding.
- excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- ability to check messages at least every 24 hours
- ability to work independently
- excellent writing skills, experience conducting research
- experience developing & facilitating workshops
- graphic design skills and knowledge of municipal politics/ governance are assets
Reports to: Executive Director
This opportunity is available to young people between the ages of 13 and 24, who live in the City of Toronto, and comes with an honorarium of $350. Begins as soon as possible. Project must be completed by February 1st, 2017 (the end date of this position).
